Live train running status for every Indian Railways train

“Where is my train?” is the question every passenger asks after booking. RailTC answers it with the official running-status feed plus a live map: the current location of the train, how many minutes it is running late, the next halt with expected arrival time, the platform, and the complete route timeline with every scheduled and expected time. It covers Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Vande Bharat, Duronto, superfast, express, passenger and MEMU trains, including many local trains that other running-status sites do not list.

Use it on the day of travel to spot your train before leaving home, while waiting on the platform, or on board to see the next station and the delay building up. It also works for the train you are going to receive someone from, and for checking whether a live delay still leaves time for your connecting train.

How to check train running status in three steps

  1. Enter the train number. Type the 5-digit number (for example 12951) in the Track Train box. If you only know the name, find the number on your IRCTC ticket or PNR.
  2. Tap Track Live. The status card shows the last reported event, the delay in minutes, the next halt and its ETA, and the platform.
  3. Spot your train on the map. Blue is the distance already covered, grey is what remains, and the marker is the live position. The route timeline below lists every halt with scheduled and expected times.

Live train tracker on a map

Most running-status pages only print the last station. RailTC plots the train on a real map with every station on the route, so you can see how far it is from your halt at a glance and follow the marker move as new positions arrive.

Train delay, next halt ETA and platform

The delay is shown in minutes against the scheduled time at each halt, the next stoppage gets an expected arrival time, and platform numbers appear as soon as the railway publishes them.

NTES, IRCTC and RailTC: what is the difference?

NTES is Indian Railways’ official National Train Enquiry System and the source of running status; IRCTC is the ticketing site. RailTC reads the official feed and presents it with a map, clear “yet to start” and “arrived” states, and a timetable for trains IRCTC does not list. RailTC is independent and not affiliated with Indian Railways or IRCTC.

Honest when data is thin

If the live feed is late, RailTC labels the position as a schedule estimate instead of pretending the train is on time. Trains that do not run on the selected day are called out rather than shown mid-route.

Live train status FAQ

How do I check live train running status by train number?

Enter the 5-digit train number in the box above and tap Track Live. RailTC shows where the train is right now, how late it is, the next halt with expected arrival time, platform numbers and the full route timeline, plus a live map.

Where is my train right now?

The Live Route Map pins the current position of your train between the last reported station and the next halt, and the status card tells you the last event, for example "Departed from Ranchi at 18:40". Refresh runs automatically every minute.

Is RailTC live train status free? Do I need to log in?

Yes, live train running status on RailTC is free and needs no login or app install. It works in the browser on any phone; the RailTC Android app adds one-tap access.

What is NTES and how is RailTC different from IRCTC or NTES live status?

NTES (National Train Enquiry System) is Indian Railways’ official running-status feed. RailTC reads the official feed and adds a live map, station coordinates, a readable route timeline, honest "yet to start" and "arrived" states, and a connection-risk check for your onward train. RailTC is not affiliated with Indian Railways or IRCTC.

Why does the status say "Yet to start" or "Arrived" instead of a live position?

Before departure the train has no live position, so RailTC shows it standing at its origin with the scheduled departure. After it reaches the last station the journey is complete and the card says "Arrived". Neither state is a guess about the train moving.

Can I track a train from my PNR?

Yes. Run a PNR analysis on RailTC and tap Track Live on the ticket card; Track Train opens with your train number prefilled.

What if live data is unavailable for my train?

When the live feed is delayed or missing, RailTC shows a schedule-based position and clearly labels it as an estimate, not as confirmed late or on time. Trains that do not run on the selected day are called out instead of being invented.
